Funded by Accessibility Standards Canada, the Parks Accessibility Conference will be our team’s second year of bringing together park users with disabilities, park management, parks researchers, and more to discuss topics related to park accessibility. By park accessibility, we mean the ways in which people with various abilities can both access and feel included in parks. Accessible and inclusive park design and management fosters more socially inclusive park experiences for people with disabilities and caregivers.
The theme of this year’s virtual conference will be solutions for improving the accessibility of national and provincial parks.
We will host keynotes and many other presenters that represent a variety of groups within the disability community, partnering organizations, as well as park and land management organizations. Together, we will gather to discuss solutions to park accessibility to determine next steps and the future of our parks. We are also excited to announce two expert panels, two social hour events, and a campfire chat that will provoke exciting and collaborative conversations.
All conference events this year will be held online using Zoom Webinar and will provide English captions and American Sign Language interpretation throughout.
We look forward to your attendance! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
The Engineering Health Team
